A BIG DEAL - Reflection On Salvation by Don Goetz

Yes, what an offer! This is a timely commodity that is completely free for the taking. There are no risks involved, you cannot be hurt; except maybe your pride.
How would you like to be adopted into the richest family on earth and be written into the last will and testament of the greatest testator who ever lived?
As in all "BIG DEALS" of a lifetime there are some stipulations:

You enter in by "faith" in the invisible. This testament belongs to the greatest unseen reality who is "GOD" and you must agree with all that is offered, and keep it. You must give your whole life over to the MEDIATOR OF THIS TESTAMENT! HERE IS THE DEFINITION:
First we must look into a brief history It must be brief because of the immense structure involved:

The first TESTAMENT or OLD TESTAMENT was given to Abraham and was called the covenant of God to His Servant Abraham. The old covenant was not completed because of the people who had entered into it; they could not adhere to all of the stipulations which were put forth in this covenant. God therefore did not break His covenant with His people the Jews; they did.

God, who knows all things from the beginning to the ending, worked into the structure many signs which pointed forward in time to the last covenant which is called ":God’s New Testament". This new testament is also a legal structure which in man’s legal terms is called A CODICIL which is a supplement to a will. It is used either to dispose of property which was not disposed of in the first document, because omitted or acquired subsequent to its date or to make a new disposition of part or all of the property disposed of in the will. It is practically a new will as to the ground which it covers and may be written on the same sheet of paper with the original will or annexed to it in any way, but may also be a separate writing or instrument. Nevertheless, it is a part of the will and must be read into it; and it and the main instrument constitute together but one will and testament.

In respect to the above legal terms called a codicil, you see that the New Testament does not put away the Old Testament; it validates it. A codicil though read into the original will, is not an integral part of it; and consequently, the appending of an unsigned codicil, even on the same sheet of paper, will not invalidate a will.

The testator of God’s last will and testament is of course "God". And, as a will is of no effect until the death of the testator did God therefore die? Well in this case He did, for God became a human being and lived on this earth.

The Jews, to whom the first covenant was made, were blinded to the fact God had stated that in the fullness of time the man (Jesus) Messiah must be cut off. (Daniel 9:26)

Isaiah, in chapter 42 gives the personality and character of Jesus in verses 1 to 3. And, in verse 6 it states" "I the Lord have called thee in righteousness and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles".

In many places we can find evidence that Jesus Christ is the Messiah if your spiritual eyes are open to find Him. Isaiah 53 is very explicit about the Messiah suffering in the flesh and dying to be the intercessor or Mediator (verse 12) and there are those places, which clearly tell of Jesus Messiah, here is a list, which will show His revealing.

  • Born of the tribe of Judah (Gen 49)
  • Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5)
  • Born of a virgin (Isaiah 7)
  • Called out of Egypt (Hosea 11)
  • He would be a prophet (Deut 15)
  • His own people would reject him ( Isaiah 53)
  • He would be betrayed and sold for thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11)
  • He would be put to death by crucifixion (Psalm 22)
  • The soldiers would cast lots for His clothing (Psalm 22)
  • He would ascend into heaven (Psalm 68) and so on and on. All these and many more were predicted hundreds of years earlier by prophets inspired by the Hold Spirit of God, and thus we have the first ATTESTATION of the OLD TESTAMENT (first COVENANT).

For in a legal will to be attested is to certify the fact that it was published as such, or that the testator acknowledged his signature, or that the witness saw him sign. In the case of God’s covenant the witness was the Holy Spirit who acknowledged the writing of it.
